Congratulations to Julia Rivas, RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center’s Personal Trainer of the Month for July 2016!

Bio:

Julia Rivas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a double minor in German and French, through Eastern European National University in Ukraine. She is certified in personal training through the American Council on Exercise, kettlebell training through SCW, aquakinetics through Aquatic Performance, and CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.

At only 2.5 years old, Julia was diagnosed with scoliosis and osteochondrosis. She began swimming and physical therapy, and continued swimming competitively throughout her school years. Swimming has helped ease the pain associated with her congenital back issues. This quality-of-life benefit was her motivation for a career in fitness. Her goal is to help Center members grow stronger, healthier, and feel their best, including those with health challenges.

Julia’s training style includes weightlifting, muscle-activation exercises, circuit training, and body-weight exercises. She specializes in high-intensity workouts. Julia believes in educating her clients so they can continue to achieve results when on their own.

She enjoys spending free time with her son, listening to music, and reading books. Agatha Christie and Paulo Coelho are her favorite authors. (As a child, she wanted to be a detective.) Julia’s ideal day is spent at the beach with her family.

She considers herself successful when her clients realize they have all the strength needed within themselves. Julia Rivas believes it is her job to help them discover it.
