Congratulations to Ryan Wilkins, RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center’s Personal Trainer of the Month for August 2015!
Personal Trainer Ryan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice, with a Minor in sociology, from Rutgers University; and his Associate’s degree in sociology from Burlington County College. Ryan is pursuing dual Master of Arts degrees in sports medicine and sports health and fitness at the United States Sports Academy. He is certified as a personal trainer and specialist in exercise therapy from the International Sports Sciences Association; as a kinesis instructor from the Functional Exercise Training Progression course by Technogym; and strength and conditioning coach from the International Youth Conditioning Association.
Ryan was named 2012 Personal Trainer to Watch by Life Fitness. He was featured on the “Sweet Cakes Workout” segment of My Talk Philly, and in South Jersey Magazine’s “Names to Know” section. Ryan also was featured in the article, “Trainer Wins Acclaim in International Competition” at Phillyburbs.com.
Ryan’s years as a trainer have been packed. He has worked successfully with professional football players, bodybuilders, collegiate and high school athletes, and post- rehabiliative clients. He specializes in athletic performance training, weight loss, strengthening and conditioning, speed and agility improvements, and kinesis training.
Previously, Ryan was head coach for the girls’ track team at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey. (He ran track and played football at Pemberton High School.) He enjoys working out, and continuously investigates new training methods and techniques. His favorite food is sweet potato pie. Fun fact: Ryan developed a post-rehab program for which he was recognized on television’s Health Check in a feature, “Local Boy Overcoming Obstacles.”
With a passion for helping people achieve athletic, fitness, and health- related goals, Ryan is eager to work with Center members. He loves being part of a like-minded community that shares his enthusiasm for healthy living.
