Julia Rivas

Julia Rivas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a double minor in German and French, through Eastern European National University in Ukraine. She is certified in personal training through the American Council on Exercise, kettlebell training through SCW, aquakinetics through Aquatic Performance, and CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.

At only 2.5 years old, Julia was diagnosed with scoliosis and osteochondrosis. She began swimming and physical therapy, and continued swimming competitively throughout her school years. Swimming has helped ease the pain associated with her congenital back issues. This quality-of-life benefit was her motivation for a career in fitness. Her goal is to help Center members grow stronger, healthier, and feel their best, including those with health challenges.

Julia’s training style includes weightlifting, muscle-activation exercises, circuit training, and body-weight exercises. She specializes in high-intensity workouts. Julia believes in educating her clients so they can continue to achieve results when on their own.

She enjoys spending free time with her son, listening to music, and reading books. Agatha Christie and Paulo Coelho are her favorite authors. (As a child, she wanted to be a detective.) Julia’s ideal day is spent at the beach with her family.

She considers herself successful when her clients realize they have all the strength needed within themselves. Julia Rivas believes it is her job to help them discover it.

I began training with Julia in October 2015. I was nearly 300 pounds. I never exercised in my life. Julia created a personalized training plan to help me accomplish my goals as I approached my fortieth birthday. Training with Julia three days a week has been life-changing. I am stronger, more flexible, and more physically active in every aspect of my life. I lost weight and gained over 35 pounds of lean muscle. My body fat has gone from 42 percent to 24 percent– and continues to decrease. As my body fat decreases and lean muscle increases, my strength and endurance increase as well. I can do exercises I never thought possible. I am the one doing the exercises. However, Julia’s training, coaching, encouragement, and extraordinary skills have made all of this possible.
